Reller Moves into New Role at Microsoft
Reller became chief financial officer of Microsoft's platform & services division (PSD), the group responsible for Microsoft's Windows and tools franchises.

Tami Reller, well-known to many partners in her high-profile job as corporate vice president of the Microsoft business solutions (MBS) group, has been appointed to a C-level job in another Microsoft division.
Reller became chief financial officer of Microsoft's platform & services division (PSD), the group responsible for Microsoft's Windows and tools franchises, according to a memo sent to employees in early December. Reller, who will report to PSD President Kevin Johnson, retains her corporate vice president title.
Reller came to the company in 2001 by way of its acquisition of Great Plains Software Inc. Her online bio notes that she started with Great Plains as a part-time receptionist in 1984, moving through several leadership positions to become that company's CFO. She's been credited with playing a key role in the effort to blend Great Plains and Microsoft's other acquired business solutions into Microsoft's main technologies. That process, while challenging, is well under way, Reller said earlier this year: "The seams are evaporating and the walls are tumbling down."
Reller has long been popular with MBS partners, some of whom lobbied Microsoft to give her the top job at MBS following the departures of her longtime boss, Great Plains founder Doug Burgum, and then Satya Nadella. However, last summer, that position went to Kiril Tatarinov, another corporate vice president who came to Microsoft from BMC Software in 2002.
